Dish: Pudalangai Poriyal (Snake gourd Fry)

Ingredients:
Snake gourd – 1, medium in length
Coconut – 1 tbsp
Salt – As needed
Chilli powder – As needed
Onion – 1
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard – 3/4 tsp
Steps:
Scrap the skin of the snake gourd slightly to remove the snowy skin. I used crushed aluminum foil instead of a knife.
Cut the snake gourd into tubes and halve the tubes vertically. Remove the center soft portion (seeds) with your hand and wash the snake gourd.
Cut snake gourd into small pieces. Chop the onions finely, keep aside.
Heat pan(kadai) with oil and temper with mustard. Add the chopped onions and fry till onion becomes golden brown. Add salt and chill powder as needed. Add the snake gourd and fry for a minute and press it lightly and cook covered for 15 minutes. Stir in between and pour water as required.
Once done, mix in the coconut and stir well for 2-3 minutes. Pudalangai Poriyal is done!
